  2. December 2018 Welcome to Issue No.40 First off, let's start by acknowledging what a great year it has been for the User Group. We've improved again our relationship with the key operators within Open GI and at the same time been able to make a real difference to our Members. Our recent AGM saw us welcome in a new Vice-Chairman, Tracey Filtness of Coast Insurance. Tracey has been on the Committee for a number of years already and her knowledge, experience and cool head under pressure will really benefit the Executive. Full details of your Committee can be found in this Newsletter should you ever want to contact us directly! The AGM was tied into this year's Members Day which I feel was the most successful one I've been involved in so far. Hat's off to the long suffering Barbara Pena, who once again pulled the rabbit out of the hat and chose the perfect venue for the event. There's a recap of the day in the Newsletter, so check out what made this event so special. Also, take a moment to see the benefits of Membership, with exclusive discounts from the Open GI Sales Team. Maybe now is the time to upgrade your system and get some advice from other Users on our Forum. That's just another great reason to sign up for Forum Access, here. So, grab a coffee and take 5 minutes to see why being a User Group Member is so important and remember, we're here for you. Cert Numbers

Hi Pete, We use Truckwriter, and it has never prompted us, they just run out !. having said that while we don't do bucket loads of CV business on EDI, majority of our providers have set the number range at 999999. Is it by any chance Aviva that needs them doing ?, as last week we had to "TRY" and update and issue some new Aviva policy numbers (first time for years) and we still are trying to sort it !, the Truckwriter POS software was confused, all messed up, Aviva didnt know how top reset using RMA commands. And agree with Mark, it is not connected with Open Suite, it must just be a coincidence. Happy days.

    Cert Numbers

Hi Pete Don't know the specifics for TW products as I'm not a low level user operationally I'll nudge @Philr as he is a top bloke on these things and hopefully he can clarify PS - I'd be surprised if this is anything to do with OpenSuite as they're not related

    Cert Numbers

Hi Guys on PC policys the signons will get warnings about the certs going low giving me time to ring/email the insurers asking for release numbers before running out. But on TW (Truck Writer) OpenGI are saying that no warnings for certs and you will only find out when your out. I cant remember this happening before we upgraded to 5.82

    sanctions checking

You should have #96 in Prospect Control so all new prospects are checked when created. You can also set under #97 to also check when converted. Also, #98 is where you set how often you want prospects rechecked during batch checks. We recheck all clients every 30 days.

    sanctions checking

I thought the sanctions checking was supposed to be automatic, but according to what you are saying it is only automatic at the point of transfer, is that right? How often do you check your book? Kind regards nigel

    open word templates

Thanks Karl, I will try that as well. Nigel

I usually take out and put back in, as Mark said, can be 'flakey' when editing. You can however remove the new else/endif and leave the existing ones in place.

    sanctions checking

Hi Nigel As far as I am aware you should be regularly rechecking your book. To do this, you need to set the overnight batch sanctions check as part of your overnight process. You can set parameters you require in broker amendment (I think including max number of records to check per night/how often to recheck each client). Your second point should be irrelevant if you are running the rechecks as above. Thanks Karl

Thanks Mark, I had tried this but it didnt seem to work. I will try again and see if I have any more luck. Nigel
  12. Hi all, Im going mad with posts this morning!! Does anyone have a problem with the sanctions checking module on open gi? According to what ive been told, it should automatically do a sanctions check on each client before the renewal is due each year, but for some reason our system does not do it. Any ideas? Also, we use APM, but have a problem where if we have an existing client and then use the info from this by transferring it to apm for a new quote, if we then transfer it back to brooms as a new policy, it doesnt do another sanctions check. Ive been told by OGI that this is right, as it will only do it if any of the level 1 info has been altered, but to me this isnt the correct way for it to work, as if the first policy was done 3 months ago, the client could have been added to the sanctions list since, so it should be checking them again. Anyone have any thoughts or feedback on this? nigel

    open word templates

Hi Nigel You can right click the keyword / IF command and use "Edit Field". This will allow you to manually edit the content - but can be a bit flakey and of course, there is no validation at this point. I often use this method - for the reasons you have mentioned - but have had issues on occasion. Save a copy and give it a go Hope this helps
  14. Hi everyone, Does anyone know if there is an easy way to alter a keyword that has already been entered into an open word template? I have put in the template an "if " command, but I want to alter the case type for when it prints, and also to alter the context of the "if" command. I could just delete and replace it, but the document is quite complicated and i would rather not do this. Any ideas? nigel

    Export notes from diary page

Hi Grant - and welcome to the Forum The Diary Events are classed as Event Frames on the system and are defined on Menu 4 (Maintenance Menu) in the Frame Module Maintenance option. There is an option to "print" the Event frame - which should give you the Field names you are looking for More tricky, is the ability to extract the data once you have the field names, but it can be done in a number of ways, one being via a document / letter, using the back office system or even OpenWord. Hope this helps and let us know how you get on with this "Data Access Request"
  16. Hi, Hope I'm posting this in the right place. We have a client making a data access request. We were looking at exporting the contents of Message event (MESS) and Event Notes (NO) from the diary page and believe there exist corresponding field names for the ten (or so) lines of the note or message event. However, we haven't yet had any luck finding field names for these. Hope that makes sense, any help appreciated.

Hi Peter - thanks for joining recently and sorry to hear you are having some issues replying to posts On investigation, this was in fact an incorrect setting for that particular Forum area and for registered users in the "Member" category This has now been corrected and you should be able to "reply" to your posts - and any other posts!! Thanks for spotting this one - and taking the time to raise with us. Happy days

    5.82

Yes - sorry - getting my OCP / ODC /OPM confused OPM allows trigger docs - as long as you dont want to add / review prior ?
  23. colm

    5.82

Mark it is also available under std OPM, whilst we don't currently use it I have just tested it by sending 3 different letters to the print queue the last one set as trigger doc and this sent all 3 to the printer out of OPM without user intervention
  24. Mark Sollis

    5.82

That's using ODC I believe - and suspect poor @Philr either hasn't spent his cash on that - or if he has - hasn't set it up yet
  25. colm

    5.82

What about trigger docs? if you send a trigger doc after ipid it should print all docs for that client?
  26. Mark Sollis

    5.82

... and I think that's a setting in the OpenSuite config file ....
