Ouch - so Open GI want it in DBE but wont tell you how to get it!?  I presume you are paying them for the Transfer service 😮

Not sure I can help easily - it depends on lots of things - why you are doing this, what are you trying to achieve, what happens to the data you can't / don't bring across, what about accounts, risk, diary, operator trails, prospects, histories etc etc etc etc. Is it policies live after 2016 but taken out in 2015 - or just NB from 2016 etc?. Sooooooo many unknowns to give you a proper answer.

You really need to be guided by the business need and their scope / requirements and, then ask OGI to deliver the service / solution to you.

Looking back - the DBE "how to" is probably the easiest part in this. The "why" and the "what" are the more difficult questions to be addressed imho - but maybe that's just me being me

I / we here can help with the DBE parameters as and when / if needed (if OGI can't / won't)

Exactly. Been a long while since I participated in an OGI data migration utilising DBE to supply the source data but the key question is the criteria (as Mark said) - live only or include terminated, client & policy detail only or also claims/diary/ledger etc.?  If you need more than just base policy info using  DBE you are talking multiple enquiries….

Has anyone here had a data migration done by OGI where 2/3 branches have merged and have any tips, comments or advice of what to expect?

    Thanks

    Sandra

I’ve done this many years ago. If you merge branches into one, bear in mind client/policy references which are already taken on the target branch will get a new number. Therefore, if you have direct debit with a finance provider such as Premium Credit, you may have to provide them with a cross reference list.

We also got OGI to stamp the BPY notes with the original ref.

  3. I don’t believe so as very specific criteria has to be set each time a purge is ran (at least in Live). Purging also has separate stages e.g. you have to purge ledger & diary before an actual policy/client record can be removed.

For all I know there may be an overnight command for Prospect to purge quotes/prospects ‘marked for deletion’, however we review these first as anyone can press Esc K (and maybe doing so for the wrong reasons).

Bottom Line, I feel nervous purging when doing manually, I would not like the idea of records disappearing from the system each night etc.

Sorry, I’ve not been much help!

Just wanted to say thanks to all for the feedback.  One thing I have found with ICP - do not change a keyword name unless you're planning to do a complete refresh afterwards - every time you edit on of the records you'll get ICP errors in the logs and the ic_view will not update (the ICP table is ok).

We've also found that sometimes new fields being added do not get pushed to ICP at all (we're raising a call about that now).

    Kind regards
    James

Yep, first thing I have to do after adding new fields is run a bulk insert

  5. Hi James

I run the command run icptrans from the OGI server command prompt. If ever we have an issue such as missing frames (when new ones created) or scheme headers with spaces after them (when new ones have been added) etc. this is what OGI told me does a bulk insert which I understand to completely refresh the database. It literally takes around 15 minutes before Info Centre back up and okay.

Hi James - hope you are well!! Great question and I'd be glad to offer some options / advice if I can ...

    First off -

1 - Why are you doing a data refresh?

2 - What is the "custom solution" (i.e. what is the proposed development that will be completed) and what is the cost?

3 - In any event, if you purged the associated Client Policy files prior to 2015 on the server - presume the log would be pruned too - obvs?

    #interestingtopic

PS - nothing, Nothing, NOTHING, NOTHING in our world should take 12 hours to process a single file. Your full back-up OF EVERYTHING doesn't take that long - I presume the bottlenecks were investigated before the "custom solution" was proposed?

    @Tom Davies

    @karl

    @maskelleto

Even a bulk insert for me only takes around 15 minutes (and I thought our database was reasonably large).

    Afternoon All,

I assume, like me, you have begun to receive info from insurers relating to green car issuing for motor policies pre & post Brexit.  My question is, I assume I need to contact all with a motor policy and advise them that the EU coverage on their cert will possibly be invalid on their certs.

Is there a way that I can send a "Group" email mailshot to all clients (obviously observing GDPR) for those that have requested email cores. and a letter to each client that has preferred post?  What I am trying to get at is other than going into each clients diary page and manually requesting can the system do a group sending?

I have OA/OPM if that helps, do I need more software?

This could also assist us with the "Newsletter" we are planning on sending later in the year as well.

    Thanks

    Steve

    Hi Steve

You should be able to generate emails via Database Enquiry.

You would search with something like:-

    bpy.ptype              Equal to   pc
    BPY.Term.date          Equal to
    BCM.Contactpref        Equal to   Email

(Obviously add whatever parameters you need).

    Then select the 'Generate letters/diary notes/memos/emails' option;

    then 'Email Messages'

Once you have entered 'Subject' etc. you will have different options on how to create the email body, I use a Word template. Obviously before any of the above you will have to setup an appropriate OpenWord template.

Ideally for any batch printing/emailing you would use OpenDocumentCentre but dependant on the volumes you run at a time OPM should work. You will probably need to press 'send' on each email as they pop up though.

Disclaimer: Always be careful when doing anything en masse! Test with a small number of dummy policies first!  Remember, if you need any help with this - Mark Sollis is a consultant who offers such services.

    Kind regards

I thought the sanctions checking was supposed to be automatic, but according to what you are saying it is only automatic at the point of transfer, is that right?

How often do you check your book?

    Kind regards

    nigel

You should have #96 in Prospect Control so all new prospects are checked when created.

You can also set under #97 to also check when converted.

Also, #98 is where you set how often you want prospects rechecked during batch checks.

We recheck all clients every 30 days.

    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know if there is an easy way to alter a keyword that has already been entered into an open word template?

I have put in the template an "if " command, but I want to alter the case type for when it prints, and also to alter the context of the "if" command. I could just delete and replace it, but the document is quite complicated and i would rather not do this. Any ideas?

    nigel

I usually take out and put back in, as Mark said, can be 'flakey' when editing. You can however remove the new else/endif and leave the existing ones in place.

    Hi all,

Im going mad with posts this morning!!

Does anyone have a problem with the sanctions checking module on open gi?

According to what ive been told, it should automatically do a sanctions check on each client before the renewal is due each year, but for some reason our system does not do it. Any ideas?

Also, we use APM, but have a problem where if we have an existing client and then use the info from this by transferring it to apm for a new quote, if we then transfer it back to brooms as a new policy, it doesnt do another sanctions check. Ive been told by OGI that this is right, as it will only do it if any of the level 1 info has been altered, but to me this isnt the correct way for it to work, as if the first policy was done 3 months ago, the client could have been added to the sanctions list since, so it should be checking them again.

Anyone have any thoughts or feedback on this?

    nigel

    Hi Nigel

As far as I am aware you should be regularly rechecking your book. To do this, you need to set the overnight batch sanctions check as part of your overnight process. You can set parameters you require in broker amendment (I think including max number of records to check per night/how often to recheck each client).

Your second point should be irrelevant if you are running the rechecks as above.

    Thanks

We currently use the Worldpay online card payment facility which is becoming more and more expensive.

We are exploring other avenues available including Open GI's own offering (I believe Creditline Plus).

Can anyone that is using the Open Gi offering please give us any feedback.

Also anyone using an outsourced facility other than Worldpay, who do you use?

    Thanks ?

Creditline + is really good, being able to process payment/allocate to OGI in one process is the main advantage to other solutions.

In a previous life we even linked it to our phone system to fully cover PCI DSS compliance (client keyed in cc number so we did not have to pause record) - but that was fairy expensive to do at the time.

You will get the odd blip when payment has gone through but not allocated to OGI but you will have access to an online portal to check payments received if get one which has supposedly failed.

  12. Hi Clare

Even the default legal expenses solution (set in broker amendment) works similar in that it creates a new LE each year as a non-renewable NB (so basically a one-off add-on policy which in its own right is not renewable).

Yes, you will have multiple LE’s but can’t see an issue with this and with regards to MI, I link the LE to the relevant main policy transaction within my reporting. Therefore I can see full income for each policy including commission, legal commission, fees & discounts. The main policy tran type identifies if NB, Rnl etc.

    Kind regards

Hi - there's no automated way to do this - unless you have additional software from OGI already installed.

Given you have to complete the detail following contact and consent discussions with each customer, there is little point in adding it globally anyway as it still needs to be updated case by case - at a given touch-point. Better to build the "adding and completion" of this frame into your MTA / Renewal processes and track update and completion via reporting methods from the system to ensure you are on target.

If this is a "valuable" exercise for your business and you want to promote completion of your "consent" data frame, then why not have a monthly award / voucher based on percentage of data completed per agent / operator?

Either way - likely this will take 12 months to capture all the detail - unless you are planning a big bang mass marketing / contact / telesales campaign to every customer you have - as long as they have consented to such contact in the first place .... see ICO Fines here for current practice - pre GDPR :o

    Hope that helps!

Love the monthly reward idea for getting consent for existing clients. Now to add a hidden operator field to my frame......

    Hi

I want to run the month/year end from the comfort of my sofa with a glass of wine and salty nibbles while the dearest watches all the high quality reality/talent shows we are deluged with on Saturday night.

But another partner in the business reckons the OGI system must be in exclusive mode to run the month/year end. (This creates problems with the last person out putting it into exclusive mode and first person in taking it out). Is this the case?

Are there any other considerations and how does everyone else do it?

At the moment one of us is staying over to baby sit the report and often not leave till gone 7pm.

    Thanks.

    Mark

I personally believe as long as you are 100% certain there are no other users in the system/overnight schedules due to start you are fine to run without exclusive mode.

    STOP PRESS GUYS!!

Always good to get the latest position and full story from the horses mouth so to speak and get the correct version (and the most up to date version) of the truth.

Registrations are now "open"  for Open GIs Consent Page Webinar - it's all over Social Media. It will be an Open G-eye opener.

So - register and attend on the day and make sure you get the full 3yr TCO numbers for real. While you are there - check what report output is being delivered in the standard price / package so you can analyse your customers preferences once you've got all that data collected. We would love to hear your views and feedback on this latest offering from Open GI - it looks amazing - what's not to like?

Like I said, saw it on Monday. It is a basic data capture frame (with a little validation) anyone with scheme toolkit could replicate in no time.

Pretty sure I had this issue when letters not printed directly from transaction and resolved it with code selecting BTX records. Will check Monday and feedback.

Yeah, I just looked and I created a back office doc with a Calculations box in it containing:-

    select btx find last where

    [BTX.Trantype] eq "r"

    [YCT.Date2] is [BTX.Dt.raised]

    [YCT.Var1.2] is [BTX.orig.debt]

Then just include as text document within your OpenWord template and set the YCT variable as needed to display latest renewal transaction info.

  17. Guys Re: Call recording - If you don't already know (has been over 2 years since last post in this thread!) Credit Line Plus can now be integrated with Callstream which allows the customer to key in details through phone (led by advisor who cannot hear tones).

    Hope this helps.
